Pandasmom's Blog

living with PANDAS, not the furry ones…

About September 14, 2009

We are a family that consists of a mom and a dad and 2 sweet girls.  They are 2 and 3 years  5 & 6!!!! years old.

This blog is to serve as a journal of our family’s dealings with PANDAS.  Our oldest daughter A is 3 almost 7 years old and we believe she has had PANDAS since she was 9 months old.  From birth – 9 months she was the most easy going child a parent could hope for.  Then, one weekend in her 9th month she changed personality wise and has never returned.

Things didn’t get too bad though until just after her 3rd birthday when we knew we had to look into this and find a reason for all the raging and loss of skills that were happeneing on a daily basis.  it took us almost 5 months to discover a label but we found, researched and treated for PANDAS.

My husband and I want to use this blog as a way to track how our daughter is doing.  We also want to see if we can snap out of the “vicitm” funk we are in.  The hell we are living in is overwhelming, but we want to step out of it and begin to view PANDAS as a circumstance rather than our lives.  We are hoping to write this blog in a positive way in order to help us live more positively.

We also hope that if this information can be helpful to anyone else that we are able to provide answers or ideas to another family.  Please ask questions if you have them!

ETA over 3 years later!  Mostly, my husband and I are fully out of the victim funk.  When things are very hard for long stretches of time, we fall back into that feeling.  But these days this is more of a circumstance to be managed and embraced.  I’m not in any way saying that this is easy. Just a change in mindset.
